Is hair mineral analysis reliable?
Although some conventional health-care professionals are sceptical, in the past twenty years there have been over a thousand references in peer-reviewed journals, supporting the reliability of HMA. If the conventional medical professions have failed to resolve your health problems, why not look at what other professions can offer?
The director of the USA hair analysis lab that I use is David L Watts, DC, PhD, FACEP. He has written over 50 scientific publications. He is invited to lecture internationally and provides evaluations and consultations to health care professionals worldwide.
After review of over 200,000 hair analysis profiles, Dr Watts has identified inter-relationships between minerals, vitamins and how they can affect your health. His research has led to the development and recognition of nutrient level patterns linked to various health conditions.
The test results are obtained by a licensed clinical laboratory, adhering to test procedures that comply with government protocol and standards. It is licensed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, State of Texas Department of Health.
In the UK we are supported by Karen Watkins BSc(Hons), Dip.ION, MTTS a nutritionist who specialises in Hair Mineral Analysis. Karen graduated from the Institute of Optimum Nutrition after studying nutritional therapy for 3 years. She is a member of the British Association of Nutritional Therapists (BANT) and a Nutritional Therapy Council Registered Practitioner.
As a Member of The Trichological Society (MTTS), Karen lectures at a number of nutritional colleges and universities on hair analysis and toxic minerals.
The applications of hair mineral analysis are wide-ranging. See the case history page.
Why do the hair mineral analysis test in the USA?
After evaluating various services I settled on this lab because it offered excellent value for money, a superb report and a fast service.
My own report contained 18 pages of information (others may differ, depending on findings) and was delivered within a fortnight at a cost of £50. Below, you can download a free sample, showing the amount of information you will receive.
It included levels of 38 minerals and the interactions between them, my metabolic type with a list of recommended supplements and details of foods to increase and decrease in order to improve my mineral balance.
At the other end of the spectrum was a UK service which I won't name. Although it was somewhat cheaper at only £28, I waited eight weeks for its return then received just one sheet of paper giving levels of 19 minerals. No explanations, no interactions, no graphs, no analysis. Compare that to this sample report.
You get what you pay for.
